NOMINATE A SITTER
Search for a local hero to be painted for Newport Museum!
The Brief
Newport Museum and CELF (National Contemporary Art Gallery for Wales) are commissioning a portrait by local artist Oriane Pierrepoint for the permanent collection at Newport Museum and Art Gallery. We want the people of Newport to get involved in this new artistic project by deciding who the portrait should portray.
Local communities are invited to nominate individuals who they believe should be represented. We're looking for today’s extraordinary ordinary heroes who have gone above and beyond for their local community. This special person could be a carer who has shown exceptional commitment to their patients, a volunteer who has gone the extra mile for a community project, or someone using their platform to give voice to those without one. There are no limits to the story your nominee could have!
Candidates must fulfil the criteria below:
-
Nominees must be Newport based.
-
Aged 18 or above.
-
Must be available for sittings between the dates of 1st and 8th December (sitting dates to be mutually agreed between artist and sitter).
-
Must be willing to have their image portrayed and their story conveyed on a public platform.
Only one sitter can be selected for the portrait and this person will be selected from the shortlisted nominations by the artist and the gallery team at Newport Museum.
How do I nominate someone?
If you know someone who deserves the opportunity to have their portrait painted and their unique story told, please fill out the ‘Sitter Nomination Form’ before 5PM on Saturday 30th November. Any nominations made after this deadline will not be considered.
If you have any queries regarding the form, reach out to Oriane Pierrepoint at portraitfornewport@gmail.com.
We look forward to hearing from you!
