An opportunity for fellow artists and painters to refine their practice from a live model for an extended period of time. Set against the atmospheric backdrop of 'The Phyllis Maud Theatre', this is an untutored class that is geared towards individuals who already have painting experience. The same model and pose will be maintained for the entire duration of the long weekend, allowing artists to achieve a substantial painting with full exploration of colour and tone.

Painting starts at 9AM, we break at noon for lunch for an hour, and continue painting until 4PM. Of course, there will be regular breaks for our lovely model to have a stretch!

What you'll need to bring...

  • Please bring your own painting equipment with you (oil paints, palette, painting mediums, brushes etc).

  • We have a limited number of easels, so if you can, please bring your own.

  • Basic drawing materials will be provided (paper, charcoal, graphite, putty rubber).

  • You can bring your own lunch, however Barnabas Arts House is home to the fantastic 'Francesca's Veggie Cafe' (Menu down below) open everyday other than a Sunday. If you'd like to order from the Cafe, please let me know what you'd like in advance so that it can prepared fresh and on time for you on the day! Tea, coffee and biscuits with be in the studio for breaks throughout the day.

Where you'll need to go...

The class takes place the rustic 'Phyllis Maud Theatre', a hireable performance space and sister venue to Barnabas Arts House, in the heart of Newport. With plenty of natural light and professional stage lights, it's the perfect setting for portrait painting.

The Phyllis Maud Performance Space is located at junction of Courtybella Terrace and Alexandra Road, Newport, NP20 2GW.

Attending and prices...

This is a four day intensive painting course for those that want it, however if four days seems a little too intense for you or perhaps you can't make it for the whole duration of the class, you have the option of paying for just two or three consecutive days out of the four.
